Friday morning, job interview for a work-study position with the aviation department/testing center. After about 5 minutes I knew that I wouldn't get the position, but gamely continued on.
Hey, "money" is always a reason to be looking for a job. I should have said "money so that I can continue to support my family and get my car fixed," but hey, hindsight is forever 20-20. There will be more on-campus jobs out there, and next year I should be eligible for federal work-study. Heck, I made maybe 5k this year? Well under the taxable limit...unlike last year, when I made nearly 50k. (Two jobs, plus a guaranteed overtime of 8 hours at time and a half each paycheck, why yes it is possible to make that much as a paramedic and dispatcher.)
Yes, moving to a new state with different EMS systems does suck, whyever do you ask? That, and nobody is hiring, or even giving the courtesy e-mails of "thanks for applying, however that job was posted two years ago and we never dated it and so we actually AREN'T hiring right now."
So, that night went over to boyfriend's sister's house for his niece's 2nd birthday. Through some stroke of sheer dumb luck, our gift of a stuffed dog that was almost as large as she is was very well received, thank goodness. While there I checked my e-mail and saw the e-mail that said "thanks, but no thanks. It was lovely to meet you!"
Next semester I'm putting in for a tour guide position. And when school starts up on Wednesday I'm going by career services and asking for there help. Or maybe I'll go Monday, not quite sure.
Next time: I've an Excel program and I'm not afraid to use it! Plus, MedicBast is back IN a real classroom (paramedic school doesn't really count...) in over four years!
